American/Hopes Classic a Success!

Congratulations to Levi Jung Ruivivar and Ava San Jose who competed at the American/Hopes Classic over the weekend.

Ava received the 2nd highest score of the Hopes 12-13 category and nabbed 1st place on Floor! Additionally, she placed 4th All Around so this means Ava qualified for the Hopes Championships, which takes place next month in Louisville, Kentucky

Competing with the best gymnasts in the world, Levi held her own and earned 2nd place for Bars. Levi has already qualified for the U.S. Gymnastics Championships but will also join Ava in Kentucky for the GK U.S. Classic next month.

Way to go, ladies!

PEG Heads to the American/Hopes Classic

Best of luck to Levi Jung Ruivivar and Ava San Jose, along with Coach Sarah, who are headed to Salt Lake City to compete at the American/Hopes Classic.

Junior Elite, Levi, is competing at the American Classic though she has already qualified for the U.S. National Championships competition in August. She will aim to get in another solid meet at this prestigious competition and will end her season at Nationals in August.

Ava is competing in the Hopes Classic in the 12-13 age group. They are vying for a spot in the U.S. Classic in July and must finish in the top 18 to secure their spot for next month’s competition.

You can cheer on the ladies and watch them on the USAG YouTube channel. The Hopes Classic (age group 12-13) is on Friday, June 21st at 5:30pm PT. Though in the Junior Elite category at the American Classic, Levi is competing during the Senior Session, which is Saturday, June 22nd at 3:00pm PT.

Annual Banquet and Related News

The highly anticipated annual banquet is nearly upon us. Join us in celebrating a wonderful year. This year, the banquet takes place on Friday, July 12th at the Odyssey Restaurant in Granada Hills. Good Luck at LSU – We’ll Miss You!

Longtime PEG gymnast, Caitlin Smith, was PEG’s very first Junior Elite gymnast and had many fun gymnastics adventures along the way from participating in U.S. Developmental Camps and high level meets, including Hopes National Championships and the U.S. Classic. She will be heading to LSU to continue her gymnastics’ career.

Alicia Wendland Crowned Novice Champ at Canadian Championships

Alicia Wendland Crowned Novice Champ at Canadian Championships!!!

Congratulations to Alicia Wendland who took the top prize at the Canadian Championships over the weekend. Alicia competed as a Novice (similar to Hopes in the US) and earned first AA in the two-day competition, which combined both days’ scores. PEG competes at Nationals

Congratulations to PEG’s JO Nationals Competitors!

Congratulations to Kira Bolden and Sophia McClelland who competed at the JO National Championships over the weekend and with the top Level 10s in the country! In her very first Nationals, Kira placed 7th on Vault with a 9.65. Sophia held her own against a tough group of competitors.

Congratulations to all PEG’s Nationals competitors, including alternate Sara Ulias.

Western Championships Results

Congratulations to PEG’s Westerns Competitors!

Congratulations to Kaelyn Diaz, Ali Lowe, Sophia Maliwanag and Avery Marshall who competed at the Western National Championships over the weekend and with the top Level 9s in the country! Here are some of the highlights: Ali Lowe is the Western National Champion on Vault. Ali also placed 6th on Bars and 8th AA. Sophia Maliwanag nabbed 6th on Floor and 8th on Bars. Avery Marshall placed 11th on Beam and AA. Kaelyn Diaz placed 8th on Bars.

As for Region One, Ali, Sophia and Avery’s Age Groups won the Team award. Region One is also the 2019 Western National Super Team Champion!

Southern California State Team

Abigail Leight (Platinum) and Mia Kuroda (Gold) both competed for the State team at Regionals. This meant they placed in the top six spots in their level for any age during the State Championship. They were representing Team Southern California at Regionals. Abbie is the Regional Champion for Vault and AA. She also placed 2nd on Bars, Beam and Floor, as well as received a whopping score of 39.1 AA. Mia is the Regional Champion on Vault and AA, as well as placed 2nd on Floor.   Additionally, both Abbie’s and Mia’s Southern Californian teams won the first place Regional team award!

Western National and National Qualifiers

Level 10 National Qualifiers
Sophia McClelland and Kira Bolden qualified for Level 10 Nationals. Sara Ulias also qualified as first alternate to Nationals. Sophia also placed 2nd on Beam; Kira placed 2nd on Vault and 3rd on Bars and AA; and Sara placed 3rd on Bars.

Level 9 Western Nationals
Avery Marshall, Sophia Maliwanag, Ali Lowe and Kaelyn Diaz qualified for Level 9 Western Nationals. Sophia also placed 2nd on Beam and Ali placed 2nd on Vault.

Your 2019 PEG Regional Champs Are….

Zoe Hale (Level 8) is the Region One Floor and AA Champ. Zoe also placed 2nd on Bars and 3rd on Vault. Isa Nazario (Level 8) is the Region One Champ for Bars.  Last but not least, Level 10 Gabriella Meccia placed 3rd on Vault!
